The Serbian New Year is celebrated on January 14 based on the Julian calendar which the Serbian Orthodox Church uses. The holiday is observed mainly by people with nationalist feelings, who claim that it was banned in socialist Yugoslavia, but not as a state holiday unlike Christmas which falls on January 7.
