ODIHR confirms Belgrade asked for opinion on draft election laws

“On 2 February 2026, the Serbian authorities submitted a request to the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to provide an opinion on draft amendments to three different pieces of election-related legislation (Draft Amendments). The relevant legislation is as follows: the Law on the Election of Members of Parliament, the Law on Local Elections, and the Law on the Constitutional Court. The proposed amendments to these laws are officially framed as measures to align Serbian electoral legislation with ODIHR’s prior recommendations,” a press release said.
