MEPs visit Jasenovac exhibition despite Serbian officials’ claims they sought to avoid it

Responding to a claim by a journalist from the pro-regime tabloid Informer that the MEPs had requested to bypass the central lobby, Picula said:

“That is not true. Obviously, this exhibition is here for a reason and serves a purpose. We from the European Parliament, so from the European Union… that is an organization built on the foundations of anti-fascism, because without the victory over Nazism, the European Union wouldn’t even exist. We have no issue viewing exhibitions like this, it is an opportunity for those who are unfamiliar to deepen their understanding of what happened during World War II. Therefore, these claims that anyone requested alternative routes are baseless,” Nova.rs reported.
