Serbian Bar Association to hold three-day strike over judicial law changes

The amendments were submitted to parliament by Ugljesa Mrdic, an MP from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Critics warn that the new measures significantly limit the operations of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (JTOK) – an office that has frequently faced pressure from the ruling coalition for bringing charges against ministers and other high-ranking state officials. The legislation has drawn criticism from both the domestic opposition and the European Commission.
